Watching

I've always been impressed with the patience of birders.  They'll wait, and wait, and wait, as they keep watch for their quarry.  Sometimes they'll spend a lifetime watching, hoping to catch a glimpse of some rare and exotic specimen, only to come up short in their quest.  Still, they keep watching.

During Advent, we are called to watch like birders: to do so with passion, with patience, with perseverence.  Unlike birders though, we are assured that we will encounter the object of our desire.  God will come to meet us.  Indeed, God has already done so.
